All-Net Info

All-Net Information

Fees for Winter All-Net are as follows:

Fees for Winter All-Net are typically approx. $250, but may change each year.  (Spring / Summer / Fall - Optional Seasons Paid directly to NJB National)

Uniforms are typically the responsibility of the team.  Coaches can coordinate their uniform purchases with our vendor.

Philosophy

The RSM NJB Chapter’s philosophy is that All-Net is for the highest caliber players from our chapter.  It gives the most advanced players a chance to play at a higher level than through our recreational program.  The All-Net teams will host and travel to other chapters to compete against other All-Net teams as representatives of our chapter.  Playing on an All-Net team is a privilege and not a right.  It is something to aspire to for the kids wishing for advanced play.  As such, we feel that based on the numbers of players in our chapter, the following rules will help to keep our elite players playing at a higher level and keep the skill level at our chapter from being diluted.

Additional Information

1.  Number of Teams

There will be no more than 2 boy’s teams and 1 girl’s team per grade team.  The All-Net Committee must approve additional teams by a 2/3 vote.

2.  All-Net Levels

There is no restriction of the number of teams at each grade level playing in an individual level of All-Net (White, Green or Blue).  The determination of which level a team will play in will be the responsibility of the coach and All-Net Committee.  It is our goal to have 1 Blue/Green team and one Green/White team when possible.

3.  Coach Selection

Anyone with previous coaching experience wishing to apply for a position as an All-Net coach must submit an application to the All-Net Committee.  All applicants will be interviewed by the All-Net Committee.  The committee will make the final determination for each team coach.  There are no exceptions.  The All-Star coach from the previous season is not guaranteed the All-Net coaching position.

4.  Number of Players

Each team roster will consist of a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 12 players. If an existing team lacks the minimum number of players due to roster changes beyond the control of the league, the coach of the team is responsible for finding and adding another player(s) to meet the minimum requirements before the next season begins.

5.  Grade Level of Players

Players may try out for a grade level above their actual level, however this is not encouraged.

Additionally, players with birthdays as listed below MUST play up a grade level:

  • 5th grade level:  A 5th grade player turning 12 before September 1st of the current year must play in the 6th grade.
  • 6th grade level:  A 6th grade player turning 13 before September 1st of the current year must play in the 7th grade.
  • 7th grade level:  A 7th grade player turning 14 before September 1st of the current year must play in the 8th grade.
  • 8th grade level:  An 8th grade player turning 15 before September 1st of the current year will be ineligible to play in All-Net.

6.  Existing Teams

A team may be considered an existing team if the following is true:

Enough qualified players attend tryouts to form an additional team at a grade level or if multiple teams for a grade level qualify under “B”.  This is determined by the coach submitting a complete roster of all players for the past 3 seasons (Summer, Spring and Winter)  by no later than one week before the first All-Net tryout date.

They have 5 players who have played together at least 2 of the previous 3 All-Net seasons (Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall) AND have the same coach which the All-Net Committee agrees should return.

7. Tryouts

All new non-returning players must try out for All-Net.  All returning players can tryout, but can be excused by the All-Net committee if it is determined the player is qualified.   However, If the All-Net Committee does not agree that player should be guaranteed a spot, that player must tryout or risk not make the team at the discretion of the All-Net Committee.

Selected coaches must be at the All-Net tryouts. Times by grade are posted  at www.rsmnjb.org.

8. Team Selection Process

A coach from an existing team may protect all, but not less than 5 of their “existing team” roster.

Players must have played on that team at least one season during the previous 365 day period.  No player is guaranteed a spot, even by the coach.  The All-Net Committee makes the final determination on the team roster and will act in the best interest of all players trying out.  The All-Net Committee will make every effort to be fair to all the kids trying out such that deserving kids do not get left off teams due to favoritism for any reason.   The All-Net Committee can overrule a coach by a 2/3 majority. The All-Net Committee will consist of the President, Vice President, Player Agent for that chapter and Chapter Director.  Although there are 4 members of this committee, any 3 can conduct the vote.  If there is a dispute or conflict of interest and the coach of the team in question holds one of those titles, they are excluded from casting a ballot for that team.

It is important that kids play on teams they are comfortable playing on.  Therefore existing players are allowed to move from one team to another within their division.  Coaches are strongly discouraged from directly recruiting a player from another RSM NJB team.  However, they can recruit another player that is not on another RSM NJB Team

Teams will fill their rosters by draft in the following manner:

The son or daughter of an approved All-Net coach is guaranteed a spot on the team.  No coach would be expected to coach a team without his/her son or daughter.

Existing players on a returning team, assuming they are approved by the All-Net Committee, are placed on their team.  The All-Net Committee can overrule any of these selections with a 2/3 vote.  If a player does not try out, they risk not being placed on the team if the All-Net Committee deems another player more deserving.

A returning team is defined as one that played the previous winter and at least one of the subsequent seasons in the spring, summer or fall.  At least 5 players must have participated in 2 seasons.  For 5th grade, the previous season’s 4th grade All-Star coach MAY be granted returning team status by 2/3 vote of the All-Net Committee.  However, due to the subjective nature of all-stars, this will likely only occur in limited circumstances.

If there are multiple teams, the top returning team (see #3) as determined by color and then record and will have first choice, regardless of the number of players each team is protecting. There will be a draft of players after that until each coach has filled his/her roster.  This is not a snake draft. The teams will select 1-2 and 1-2 and 1-2 assuming there are 2 teams.  If there are more than 2 teams, the top team from the previous year, regardless of returning team status, will pick 2nd.

If a parent requests in writing to the board that their player be moved from one team to another or not be placed on a team in the first place, the All-Net Selection Committee will vote.  A 2/3 majority can approve the request.

9. Certification

All players must be certified by the Chapter.  Verification documents (birth certificate and report card) must be available the All-Net Committee at tryouts.

10. Home Games

Teams are not guaranteed home games at RSM NJB gyms.  There is limited gym space. Preference will be given to teams that have a coach as a board member as they need to be around our gyms as much as possible.

11. Player Releases

Player releases are up to the board’s discretion and will be issued only under extreme circumstances.

12. Tournament and League Play

Existing coaches are responsible for participating in all league play as scheduled by NJB All-Net for the winter season. Further the coach is encouraged to participate in another All Net season of their choice during the year to assure their team is competitive and remains intact. If the team does not participate in a non-winter season, another team in the same division can add that player to their roster for that season upon mutual agreement with the coach and player. Further, if that player desires to change teams permanently. Player shall notify the former and current coaches of their desired change. The new team is not obligated to accept the player. However, if the coach does add the player permanently to the roster, the change shall be submitted to the All-net Committee within 30 days.

All new coaches and teams are required to participate in winter season as outlined above and one other All-Net season during the year.

Lastly, RSM NJB highly promotes and encourages the involvement of teams in area tournaments that are outside All-Net. The level of competition is these tournaments is typically higher than that of ALL Net and therefore fosters a development of skills for players and teams that are beyond the All Net level.  It is recommended that these tournaments are used to supplement the various All-Net seasons.  Please contact one of the board members for tournament information.
