Parent Code of Conduct

Parent Code of Conduct

As your child may be playing games at various gymnasiums within Orange County during the upcoming winter season, we have compiled some information that will be useful to you while at the gymnasiums.

Scorekeepers:

Each court will be staffed with a scorekeeper to answer any questions and alert a Board Member should it be necessary.  In addition, the referee of the game is available for assistance. The scorekeeper will make sure that all safety issues and technical problems are dealt with at their respective courts.  It is NOT the scorekeeper’s job to be involved in disputes over game rules.  The NJB Rules are available at every table and online and coaches should bring a copy to the game. Any interpretations or disputes over the rules MUST be handled by the coaches and referees.

We request that all parents, players, and guests respect the authority of the referees, board members, and scorekeepers at all times.

The scorekeepers will have access to first aid items if needed.

Gym Rules:

We have been allowed the use of many gyms within Orange County.  This is a privilege and we have been asked to treat their facilities with the utmost care.  Should we fail to comply, they may at any time revoke our use of the gyms.  The following rules are for the protection of the gymnasiums and we ask that your family and any guests abide by these rules at all times.

Rules at our gyms:

  1. No gum in the gym
  2. No food inside the gym
  3. Only chairs with rubber padded bottoms may be used in the gym
  4. Parking will be allowed in the designated spots (back parking lot only for SMCHS)
  5. All trash must be placed in the trash cans.
  6. No climbing on the bleachers when they are not down.
  7. No playing on the rolled-up mats in the Tesoro HS auxiliary gym.

Referees:

The referee’s job is to officiate the game and to maintain a safe environment for the players.  Please respect the authority of all referees while a game is in progress. Additionally, please refrain from yelling at the referees and under no circumstances should profanity be used when addressing a referee. All coaches and parents should treat referees, other coaches and players respectfully. In addition, under no circumstances should a parent or spectator be yelling at the players or coaches. If any coach or parent cannot be respectful during games they will be asked to leave the gym on the first offense and the league on second offense. If a coach or parent refuses to listen to the referee it will be grounds for a forfeit to the offending team.

The RSM NJB Board of Directors will review any infractions of the Code of Conduct or complaints against any chapter member.  Depending on the seriousness or frequency, the Board of Directors may assess disciplinary actions up to and including expulsion from the Chapter.
